A songbird singing
Flew by my window sill
She had waxy blue wings
And a bright yellow bill

Reminding me of a home
I hadn’t seen in years
The song she sung
Floated into my ears

I hold her lovely tune
So deep inside my heart
I hope that she senses it
Even when we’re apart

Nothing to hold on to
Just to let her fly
Her song fading away
As I whisper goodbye

Listening for the sound
Outside my window still
Hope she flies this way
That would be a thrill

Wish she could stay
Long enough to see
Just how much her presence
Really means to me

Commentary:

We are never really apart are we? I feel that closeness is not dependent on location.
I mean really, people can sleep together and still be millions of miles away
from each other. So what defines together and apart? Love?
